LGA Field Assistants in Gombe
Malaria Consortium is recruiting LGA Field Assistants to support the implementation of the Mass Drug Administration MDA of Azithromycin AZM in Gombe and Adamawa states. Malaria Consortium is a leading non profit organisation dedicated to controlling malaria and other communicable diseases across Africa and Southeast Asia. The organization works with communities, governments, and partners to strengthen health systems and improve health outcomes.
The LGA Field Assistants will ensure proper planning, execution, and monitoring of AZM MDA activities at the local government level. They will collaborate with LGA teams, health facility supervisors, traditional leaders, and Officers in Charge of all implementing facilities. This is to ensure adherence to AZM administration protocols. The role also involves engagement with State Ministries of Health, NTD teams, and LGA management. In addition, assistants must maintain high quality programme delivery.
Key responsibilities include supporting implementation at LGA, health facility, and household levels. Moreover, assistants will coordinate with local government representatives and community stakeholders. They will manage last mile distribution of AZM commodities. They are responsible for monitoring refresher trainings for Health Facility Workers and Community Drug Distributors. They are also expected to report issues related to digital HCM and protocol compliance. Furthermore, assistants will support finance and M&E activities.
Field Assistants will be engaged as short term personnel, onboarded on program tools and digital systems such as Kobo and Digit HCM, and embedded with state teams to provide both direct and remote support. Deliverables include coordinating training and supervision. They also monitor MDA rounds, facilitate reverse logistics of AZM bottles, and submit activity and end of contract reports.
Applicants must hold a degree in Science, Social Science, or Public Health with at least two years of relevant field experience. Fluency in English and Hausa/Fulani or other local languages is required. Candidates should have experience in drug or commodity supply management, M&E, logistics, and using digital data tools such as Kobo Collect and SurveyCTO. In addition, strong communication and supervisory skills are essential.
