ABOUT HIFASS

Health Initiatives for Safety and Stability in Africa HIFASS is a Nigerian non-profit organization established in 2007 with a focus on expanding access to quality healthcare and treatment in Africa.

HIFASS has provided manpower and related support to HJF Medical Research International in support of research and the Nigerian Military HIV programme across 31 military formations.

JOB SUMMARY

The Zonal EMR and IT Support Assistant will provide comprehensive technical support across assigned facilities in support of the Viva EMR application.

The role involves hands-on hardware repairs, preventive maintenance, network administration, cybersecurity compliance, IT asset management, user support, physical security systems maintenance and coordination with central IT and software development teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide on-demand helpdesk support through phone, email and designated support channels.
  2. Monitor reported technical issues and ensure first response within 2 hours.
  3. Act as liaison between supported facilities and programme software developers.
  4. Onboard new EMR users and provide hands-on training.
  5. Train existing users on new EMR features.
  6. Document site visits, support requests and escalations.
  7. Diagnose and repair desktops, laptops and peripheral devices.
  8. Perform component replacements involving RAM, storage drives, displays, power supplies and motherboards.
  9. Conduct preventive maintenance, cleaning, cable management and equipment checks.
  10. Install, configure and relocate computers, workstations, network switches and peripheral devices.
  11. Support printers, scanners and IT consumables management.
  12. Maintain and troubleshoot CCTV systems and biometric access controls.
  13. Maintain clean, secure and operational server rooms and network racks.
  14. Administer local LAN and WLAN infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls and access points.
  15. Troubleshoot network connectivity, structured cabling, patch panels and ISP-related issues.
  16. Maintain network documentation, topology diagrams, IP and MAC address records and configuration logs.
  17. Ensure programme endpoints comply with approved operating system, encryption, antivirus and EDR requirements.
  18. Support operating system and application patch management.
  19. Maintain accurate inventories of IT assets, spare parts, peripherals and consumables.
  20. Provide technical oversight of IT vendors, contractors and ISP engineers.
  21. Track IT service renewals, subscriptions and vendor contracts.
  22. Document user interactions, troubleshooting activities and resolutions in the ticketing system.
  23. Support basic automation and reporting using tools such as Excel formulas.
  24. Perform other duties assigned by the Team Lead or IT Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  1. HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
  2. Minimum 3 years of hands-on technical support experience.
  3. Demonstrated competency in physical PC and laptop repairs.
  4. Experience with facility networking and specialized software support.
  5. Experience in physical IT operations.
  6. Proven hardware diagnostics, component replacement and bench-level repair skills.
  7. Knowledge of structured cabling, RJ45 termination and patching.
  8. Knowledge of PoE and PoE+, access points and server rack management.
  9. Basic CCTV and biometric hardware maintenance skills.
  10. Solid understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs and Wi-Fi deployments.
  11. Knowledge of Windows 10/11 Pro or Enterprise and Windows Server.
  12. Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA or OEM repair certification are advantageous.

MOBILITY REQUIREMENT

This is a highly mobile, field-based position.

Successful candidates will be based at their assigned zonal site office in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Kaduna, FCT or Uyo and must be willing to travel frequently between designated facility sites for hands-on maintenance, system administration and technical support.
