Sahel Consulting, a leading management consulting firm focused on transforming Africa’s agriculture and nutrition landscape, is seeking a qualified Ecosystem & Institutional Strengthening (EIS) Specialist to support its SEPTP initiative.
The role will drive policy engagement, institutional capacity strengthening, and multi-stakeholder coordination to enhance the sustainability and effectiveness of Nigeria’s poultry ecosystem. The successful candidate will work closely with government agencies, private sector players, and development partners to strengthen sector-wide systems and enable long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead engagement with government institutions including FMLD, FMAFS, SMEDAN, NAFDAC, SON, and others on poultry sector policies
- Support policy development processes such as the National Poultry Development Policy (NPDP) and Animal Feed Policy
- Conduct institutional capacity assessments and design strengthening plans for sector bodies and associations
- Coordinate multi-stakeholder platforms and Technical Working Groups (TWGs)
- Facilitate collaboration between state governments and private sector stakeholders across SEPTP focal states
- Develop policy briefs, position papers, and sector insights for decision-makers
- Manage stakeholder relationships across public, private, and civil society sectors
- Maintain work plans, reporting frameworks, and program documentation aligned with program objectives
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Public Policy, Development Studies, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage)
- 5–7 years of experience in policy advocacy, institutional strengthening, or market systems development
- Proven experience engaging with Nigerian government institutions on policy or regulatory matters
- Experience coordinating multi-stakeholder platforms or sector initiatives
- Strong understanding of agriculture, livestock, or poultry value chains
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and policy analysis skills
- Ability to work across complex systems and manage multiple priorities
- Willingness to travel frequently within Nigeria
Preferred Profile:
Candidates with experience in donor-funded programs (especially Mastercard Foundation projects), public-private partnerships, and agricultural sector reforms will have an added advantage.
