ORGANIZATION: INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TROPICAL AGRICULTURE IITA

IITA is recruiting suitable Nigerian nationals for positions supporting its programmes and field activities.

  1. STATE HELPDESK OFFICER

CONTRACT: 1 YEAR RENEWABLE

LOCATIONS: JIGAWA, KANO, ABUJA, PLATEAU AND LAGOS

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Operate the state-level programme help desk and respond to enquiries from prospective and enrolled participants, community members and partners.
  1. Provide accurate information on programme eligibility, application procedures, training schedules, Youth Agribusiness Park access and available support services.
  1. Receive, record and route participant and community feedback, questions and complaints, including safeguarding-sensitive concerns.
  1. Support outreach and community sensitization activities, particularly among young women, persons with disabilities and internally displaced youth.
  1. Maintain an organized and updated database of enquiries, referrals and resolutions.
  1. Monitor relevant local policy, regulatory and market developments affecting youth agribusiness.
  1. Assist with registration, attendance tracking, training sessions, cohort enrolment and Youth Agribusiness Park events.
  1. Coordinate with state programme team members to ensure participants receive consistent and accurate information.
  1. Prepare periodic reports on help desk activities, common enquiries and feedback trends.
  1. Uphold IITA safeguarding, confidentiality and code-of-conduct standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Social Sciences, Communications, Development Studies, Agriculture or a related field.
  1. Minimum 2 years of experience in customer service, community engagement, front desk operations or similar public-facing roles.
  1. Experience within an NGO or development programme is an advantage.
  1. Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills.
  1. Fluency in English and relevant local language or languages.
  1. Good knowledge of the local community, culture and context.
  1. Basic computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  1. Strong customer service, organizational and record-keeping skills.
  1. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  1. Good problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  1. Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
  1. High level of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism.
  1. Willingness to travel locally within the assigned state.
  1. DRIVER

CONTRACT: 1 YEAR RENEWABLE

LOCATIONS: PLATEAU, OYO, OGUN, ABUJA, EBONYI, ADAMAWA AND JIGAWA

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide safe and timely transportation for project staff, consultants, partners and visitors.
  1. Transport project materials, equipment and supplies to field locations.
  1. Ensure assigned vehicles are clean, roadworthy and properly maintained.
  1. Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report mechanical faults, accidents and maintenance requirements.
  1. Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, fuel records, maintenance records and trip documentation.
  1. Support timely servicing, repairs, insurance renewals and vehicle licensing.
  1. Observe traffic regulations and maintain safe driving practices.
  1. Support logistics for trainings, workshops, field visits and stakeholder meetings.
  1. Ensure the security and proper handling of passengers, documents and equipment during transportation.
  1. Assist with loading and unloading project materials when necessary.
  1. Maintain confidentiality, professionalism and reliability.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  1. Minimum of Secondary School Certificate.
  1. Additional training in vehicle maintenance is an advantage.
  1. Valid driver’s licence appropriate to the vehicle class.
  1. Clean driving record.
  1. Minimum 3 years of professional driving experience.
  1. Experience with an NGO, government agency or corporate organization is an advantage.
  1. Excellent driving skills and strong commitment to road safety.
  1. Good knowledge of vehicle maintenance and care.
  1. Basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
  1. Good knowledge of roads and routes within the assigned state, including rural areas.
  1. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  1. Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  1. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  1. High level of integrity, professionalism and reliability.
  1. Physically fit and willing to travel frequently, including to remote locations.
