Salary: ₦13,330,000 potential annual salary, commensurate with experience
R4D is seeking a Program Officer to support its Scaling Innovation Practice and contribute to an FCDO funded science, technology and innovation programme in Nigeria.
The role will support initiatives focused on strengthening Nigeria’s science, technology and innovation ecosystem, including the UK Nigeria Science and Technology Cluster Partnership, Research to Enterprise Pilot and a responsible AI research initiative.
Key Responsibilities
Lead significant components of innovation and research programmes
Develop and manage workplans and deliver high quality programme outputs
Conduct research and stakeholder mapping across priority sectors
Support ecosystem diagnostics and research commercialisation initiatives
Research responsible AI governance and innovation ecosystem models
Develop reports, tools, frameworks and analytical products
Support monitoring, evaluation and learning activities
Manage risks, issues and programme deliverables
Contribute to funder reports and programme updates
Support procurement, budgeting and resourcing
Build relationships with government agencies, research institutions, MSMEs and innovation ecosystem actors
Facilitate stakeholder workshops, meetings and convenings
Contribute to funding proposals and business development
Represent R4D at relevant meetings, conferences and events
Requirements
MA plus 3 years of experience OR BA plus 5 years of experience
Relevant background in global development, public policy, science and technology, innovation or related fields
Programme and project management experience
Experience in technology innovation, scaling innovation or innovation ecosystem strengthening
Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills
Experience working across multiple programmes, teams or workstreams
Experience engaging government, think tanks, innovation ecosystem actors and technical partners
Experience managing components of donor funded programmes such as FCDO funded projects
Understanding of innovation and scaling processes and innovation ecosystems
Strong strategic problem solving and organisational skills
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Legally authorised to work in Nigeria
Willingness to travel occasionally, up to 3 to 4 weeks per year
Desirable
Professional qualification in project or programme management
Experience with user centred design, agile or adaptive learning methodologies
Experience working directly with innovators, entrepreneurs or innovation ecosystem actors
