Apply to FG TVET Training Centre 2026
The Federal Government has officially opened the application portal for the 2026 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme, inviting qualified training centres across the country to participate as accredited trainers. This initiative is designed to strengthen technical skills development and improve workforce readiness, while also providing financial incentives to participating institutions. Under the programme, accredited trainers will receive a monthly payment of ₦45,000 per student, making it an attractive opportunity for training providers seeking both impact and sustainability.
According to confirmed updates, the registration portal is currently active and already receiving applications from interested centres nationwide. However, before applying through the official portal, all training providers must first obtain accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). This accreditation is a mandatory requirement and ensures that only qualified and capable institutions are selected to deliver training under the programme.
Eligibility for the TVET programme is limited to organizations and individuals that meet specific regulatory conditions. One of the key requirements is registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), which verifies the legal status of the applying entity. The programme is open to three main categories of training providers: Vocational Enterprise Institutions (VEIs), Skill Training Centres (STCs), and Mastercraft Persons (MCPs). Each category has its own set of criteria that must be satisfied before accreditation can be granted.
For Vocational Enterprise Institutions (VEIs), applicants must present valid proof of CAC registration and demonstrate the use of National Skills Qualification (NSQ)-based curricula. In addition, each trade offered by the institution must have at least one qualified instructor, maintaining an instructor-to-student ratio of 1:40. VEIs are also required to appoint a Quality Assurance Assessor (QAA) and an Internal Quality Assurance Manager (IQAM) for each trade. These roles may be part-time but are essential for maintaining training standards. Furthermore, applicants must have adequate physical infrastructure, including workshops, classrooms, office spaces, and restrooms. Evidence of past training programmes and certifications issued must also be provided as part of the application.
Skill Training Centres (STCs) must also meet similar standards. They are required to be registered with the CAC and must implement NSQ-based curricula in their training programmes. Each programme must be supported by at least one qualified instructor or a senior artisan who holds a minimum of NSQ Level 3 certification. Like VEIs, STCs must have at least one QAA and one IQAM per trade, as well as sufficient technical and support staff to ensure smooth operations. Adequate facilities such as workshops and restrooms are mandatory, and applicants must present records that demonstrate previous training activities and experience.
For Mastercraft Persons (MCPs), the requirements are slightly different but still rigorous. Applicants in this category may provide either CAC registration or a valid National Identification Number (NIN). They must also use NSQ-based curricula in their training delivery. Each programme must include at least one qualified artisan, and there must be a ratio of one junior artisan to every five trainees. MCPs are expected to have functional workshops, access to restrooms, and verifiable proof of prior experience in training and skills development.
Across all categories, adherence to quality standards and proper documentation is critical. Applicants must ensure that all required information is accurately provided during the application process. After successfully completing the application, candidates are advised to save their User ID, as it will be required for future login and tracking of their application status. It is also important to note that only one application is permitted per applicant, so submissions must be carefully prepared to avoid errors or disqualification.
The TVET programme represents a significant opportunity for training centres and skilled professionals to contribute to national development while earning steady income. By focusing on structured, quality-driven training, the initiative aims to bridge the skills gap and empower individuals with practical competencies that are relevant to today’s job market.
