JOB DETAILS

  • Position: Procurement Assistant
  • Location: Maiduguri, Borno State
  • Employment Type: Contract
  • Salary: ₦344,223 monthly

ROLE SUMMARY

The Procurement Assistant will support the Procurement & Logistics Officer in ensuring smooth procurement operations across the Borno area. The role focuses on timely, compliant, and high-quality sourcing of goods and services to support PUI programmes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Procurement & Supply Chain Support

  • Assist in implementing and updating procurement plans for various projects
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with donor and PUI guidelines
  • Work closely with requesting departments to ensure accurate specifications
  • Support contract preparation and ensure proper authorization
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships
  • Consolidate and optimize purchasing processes for efficiency

2. Procurement Monitoring & Validation

  • Participate in procurement validation processes
  • Monitor purchase follow-ups and resolve issues proactively
  • Support compliance with supply chain procedures and standards

3. Transportation & Logistics Support

  • Assist with transport coordination and documentation
  • Liaise with suppliers and transport partners
  • Facilitate cargo movement, including OCHA clearance and escort processes

4. Documentation & Audit Preparation

  • Maintain and archive procurement documents (hard and soft copies)
  • Organize procurement files for audits
  • Support audit preparation in line with supply chain SOPs

DEPARTMENT PRIORITIES

  • Strengthen supply chain management systems
  • Ensure quality control and compliance across procurement activities
  • Prepare procurement documentation for audits
  • Support capacity building and adherence to updated procurement guidelines

REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • National Diploma (ND) or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in procurement, logistics, or supply chain
  • Experience with an INGO or similar organization is preferred

Skills & Knowledge

  • Good understanding of procurement and logistics procedures
  • Knowledge of supply chain and value chain management
  • Familiarity with donor-funded project requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

Language

  • Fluency in English and Hausa (Knowledge of Kanuri is an added advantage)
