KNCV Nigeria is currently recruiting a qualified and experienced Laboratory Associate to support its ongoing health interventions in Kano. The organization is widely recognized for its strong technical and administrative capacity in strengthening healthcare systems, particularly in the areas of tuberculosis (TB), HIV/AIDS, and COVID-19 vaccination services.

Role Overview

The Laboratory Associate will play a critical role in supporting laboratory systems and ensuring efficient diagnostic service delivery. The position focuses on improving sample transportation, laboratory operations, data management, and equipment functionality across supported health facilities.

This role requires a professional with strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders within the public health ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

• Provide technical support to the sample transport network, ensuring timely movement and redistribution of samples, as well as prompt retrieval of test results
• Oversee GeneXpert laboratories, including troubleshooting minor issues and escalating faults in collaboration with Cepheid support teams
• Supervise Truenat laboratories to ensure uninterrupted testing, availability of reagents, and timely reporting of results
• Collaborate with laboratory focal persons and data clerks to ensure accurate and timely data entry into CommCare systems
• Collate and validate weekly and monthly performance reports from laboratories
• Monitor GXAlert system functionality and ensure proper data upload across facilities
• Supervise infrastructure and maintenance activities such as air conditioning repairs, inverter installations, and equipment optimization
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Cluster Laboratory Advisor

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field
• 2–4 years of relevant experience in public health programmes
• Practical experience in TB, HIV, community TB, or MDR-TB programmes
• Strong background in fieldwork and community-based interventions in Nigeria
• Experience in team management and stakeholder coordination
• Proven ability to manage health data systems and reporting tools
