Health Field Officer Jobs at ICRC

The International Committee of the Red Cross is recruiting four Health Field Officer II positions to support its health programs in Nigeria. These roles are full-time and based in Abuja, Biu in Adamawa, and Maiduguri in Borno, with some travel and possible relocation requirements. The positions report to the Deputy Health Coordinator, Health Delegate, and Head of Office.

Health Field Officers II will support the implementation of ICRC health programs and activities in their assigned areas of responsibility through regular field visits. They will ensure that communities in these areas have timely access to quality health services, monitor the health situation, and propose coordinated assistance aligned with the delegation’s strategy. Key responsibilities include planning and implementing health activities, participating in assessments, preparing project proposals and reports, and supporting programs in PHCCs, hospitals, nutrition stabilization centers, and first aid services.

Officers will conduct regular monitoring and supervision of ICRC-supported facilities, ensure adherence to guidelines, protocols, and standard operating procedures, and oversee appropriate use of medical supplies. They will organize trainings for facility staff and community members, promote Health Care in Danger initiatives, maintain contact with state and local authorities, ensure proper data collection and reporting, support referral pathways for beneficiaries, and collaborate with nutrition teams to monitor children under five and pregnant or lactating women. They will also respond to suspected or confirmed health emergencies, including outbreaks and malnutrition, and ensure timely completion of drug inventories and orders.

Applicants must have a University Degree in Medicine, Nursing, or Midwifery, with a postgraduate Master’s or diploma in Public Health or Health Management considered an advantage. Candidates must be fluent in English and Hausa, hold a valid license to practice, have strong computer skills, and at least three years of professional experience in related fields, particularly in emergencies. A valid work permit for Nigeria is required.
