ABOUT LAFIYA
Lafiya works to make contraception more accessible through a community based approach and a network of female health professionals known as Lafiya Sisters.
The organisation currently operates across 6 states in Nigeria and manages more than 600 Lafiya Sisters. To date, Lafiya has supported more than 800,000 women through its last mile approach.
ROLE OVERVIEW
Lafiya is expanding its IT function and is seeking a hands on IT Generalist to build and manage its IT systems and security operations.
The role will cover hardware procurement, user support, systems administration, platform management, cybersecurity and day to day technical support.
The successful candidate will initially lead the organisation’s device rollout and security preparations ahead of the all staff retreat in December.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define device specifications for different staff roles.
- Develop device procurement budgets and secure approval in coordination with the COO and Finance team.
- Source, procure and configure staff and Lafiya Sister devices.
- Establish and maintain a device inventory and replacement or refresh cycle.
- Manage user accounts and provisioning as staff join and leave the organisation.
- Administer subscriptions and platforms including Slack, SurveyCTO, Personio, Airtable, Capsule, Squarespace, Xero, Claude and Microsoft Excel.
- Support staff onboarding and train users on new platforms.
- Provide day to day troubleshooting and technical support.
- Lead a cybersecurity assessment of the organisation’s current systems.
- Implement appropriate cybersecurity controls and security policies.
- Configure and manage controls such as MFA, endpoint protection, access management and patch management.
- Develop onboarding and offboarding checklists and other IT processes.
- Manage IT vendors including device suppliers, ISPs and SaaS vendors where required.
- Provide timely technical support to staff and make practical technical decisions independently.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Computer Science, Information Systems, IT or a related field, or equivalent practical experience with relevant certifications.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in IT support or systems administration, preferably in a small organisation or NGO environment.
- Mandatory experience managing a fleet of at least 20 devices for a small to medium sized organisation.
- Experience managing Windows and or Mac devices.
- Mandatory experience administering Google Workspace user accounts and permissions.
- Mandatory experience administering Slack or similar collaboration platforms, including licensing and subscription management.
- A recognised cybersecurity certification such as CompTIA Security+, ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience implementing baseline cybersecurity controls including MFA, endpoint protection, access management and patch management.
- Professional fluency in English.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- Experience conducting or supporting cybersecurity risk assessments.
- Experience with mobile device management or endpoint management tools such as Google Endpoint Management, Jamf or Intune.
- Vendor management experience involving device suppliers, ISPs or SaaS vendors.

The role requires someone who can build systems from scratch, respond reliably to staff needs and work effectively across multiple countries and time zones.
