BBC World Service is evolving its editorial operations in Abuja to respond to changing media consumption habits across sub-Saharan Africa.
BBC Hausa is one of the leading international news services serving Hausa-speaking audiences across West Africa and the global diaspora. As audiences increasingly consume news through smartphones, YouTube, and social media, BBC Hausa is strengthening its digital-first and video-led approach.
The successful candidate will play an important role in this transformation by helping to develop BBC Hausa’s video and visual storytelling capabilities.
The Digital Content Producer will contribute to the complete content-production process, including researching, filming, scripting, editing, presenting, publishing, and optimising digital content.
🎥 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Create and deliver high-impact digital journalism across multiple platforms.
- Identify compelling news angles and simplify complex stories for digital audiences.
- Produce content specifically designed for mobile-first consumption.
- Script, produce, film, edit, and publish video, audio, and social-media content.
- Contribute to short-form, mid-form, and long-form digital productions.
- Develop culturally relevant content for Hausa-speaking audiences across West Africa and the global diaspora.
- Use audience insights and analytics to understand content performance and improve audience engagement.
- Explore emerging technologies and AI-supported workflows to enhance research, production, editing, and content creation.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, impartiality, editorial integrity, and responsible journalism.
- Work collaboratively with editorial, production, and other BBC teams.
- Manage competing priorities effectively in a fast-paced news environment.
