Vacancy for Program Officer – EUDR Learning Community (Africa)
Job Opportunity: Program Officer – EUDR Learning Community (Africa)
The African Fine Coffees Association (AFCA) is inviting applications for the position of Program Officer to support the coordination of the EUDR Learning Community for Africa. The role is remote. Moreover, it is open to candidates based in Africa.
The EUDR Learning Community for Africa is a multi‑stakeholder platform established to support practical and coordinated implementation of the European Union Deforestation Regulation across African coffee producing countries. The initiative is implemented by AFCA in collaboration with the Committee on Sustainability Assessment and funded by the GIZ SAFE Project. Additionally, it is further supported by the Global Coffee Platform and the International Coffee Organization.
The Learning Community brings together public institutions, private sector actors, producer organisations, financial institutions, and development partners. It does this to strengthen collaboration on deforestation‑free supply chains. Furthermore, it aims to promote peer learning, share practical tools and good practices. It also improves traceability within coffee value chains, and ensures smallholder inclusion in international markets.
The Program Officer will lead operational coordination, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge management for the Learning Community. Responsibilities include organising virtual and in‑person meetings, coordinating governance processes, and facilitating stakeholder engagement across countries. The officer also supports the development of knowledge products such as briefs and case studies. In addition, the role also involves maintaining communication with members, managing a digital repository of resources, and preparing progress reports for partners and donors.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, environmental science, sustainability, international development, economics, or a related field. They also must have at least five years of professional experience in programme coordination, multi‑stakeholder facilitation, or regional programme management. Experience in African agricultural systems, sustainability initiatives, or deforestation‑free supply chains is highly desirable. Fluency in both English and French is required.
The contract duration is twelve months and may be renewed based on performance and project needs.
Application Deadline: March 27, 2026
How to Apply
Interested candidates should submit a CV, a one‑page cover letter, proposed consultancy rate if applicable, and contact details of three references to secretariat@afca.coffee with the subject line: Program Officer – EUDR Learning Community. Late submissions will not be considered.
