Action Against Hunger, a globally recognized humanitarian organization dedicated to ending hunger and malnutrition, is seeking a highly experienced and motivated professional to fill the position of Coach Field Coordinator. This strategic leadership role is based in Yola, with frequent field visits across North-East Nigeria, including deep-field locations such as Damasak and Monguno. The successful candidate will play a critical role in strengthening ACF’s operations in complex and insecure environments while supporting program delivery and ensuring compliance with humanitarian principles.
Under the direct supervision of the Country Director, the Coach Field Coordinator will provide high-level support to ACF’s programming and strategic implementation across the region. The role focuses on mentoring and capacity building of teams, ensuring that all programmatic activities align with ACF’s mission, vision, and operational standards. The Coordinator will also serve as the organization’s key representative at the field level, maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, and local authorities.
A core responsibility of the position is to ensure the safety and security of ACF personnel, assets, and operations. The successful candidate will be expected to assess risks, implement security protocols, and maintain situational awareness in a volatile environment. In addition, the role includes full accountability for support functions such as Finance, Human Resources, and Logistics, ensuring efficient resource management and operational effectiveness.
The Coach Field Coordinator will also play a significant mentoring role, supporting both ACF staff and local implementing partners. This includes strengthening capacities in reporting, program quality, accountability mechanisms, and knowledge capitalization. The position requires a strong ability to coach teams, transfer knowledge effectively, and foster a collaborative and multicultural working environment.
Applicants must possess a degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, International Development, Humanitarian Response, or a related field. A minimum of seven years of experience with international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) in similar roles, particularly within insecure or emergency settings, is required. Prior experience with ACF or in emergency and post-emergency contexts will be considered an added advantage.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills, along with the ability to analyze complex situations and develop coherent strategies. Strong decision-making capabilities, problem-solving skills, and proficiency in interpreting numerical and operational data are essential. Candidates must also show the ability to work independently while maintaining discipline and adaptability in challenging field conditions.
This position offers a fixed-term contract under French legislation for an initial period of six months, ending on 31st October 2026. The monthly gross salary ranges from €2,597 to €2,968 depending on experience, inclusive of a 13th-month bonus. Additional benefits include a €200 monthly mentorship allowance, a $786 net monthly per diem and living allowance, and a €450 monthly country allowance. For non-French citizens, pension insurance contributions are reimbursed at 16% of the gross salary.
