Position: Technical Officer Health Systems Strengthening
Location: Kano State, Nigeria

Job Summary
The Technical Officer Health Systems Strengthening will provide day-to-day operational and technical support for the implementation of health systems strengthening interventions in Kano State. The role will work closely with the HSS Policy Advisor and other project team members to ensure project activities at the state and local government levels are effectively coordinated, documented, and aligned with the project work plan.
Key Responsibilities
Support the HSS Advisor in implementing interventions aimed at strengthening the primary health care system.
Serve as the focal point for logistical coordination with local government health authorities and facility managers to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Support the development of technical documents, guidelines, and protocols for the implementation of health systems strengthening initiatives.
Conduct desk reviews and gather background information to support policy analysis and the development of technical guidelines.
Assist with policy analysis to identify gaps and opportunities for strengthening the health system.
Support advocacy efforts for the adoption and implementation of evidence based policies and practices.
Draft activity reports, meeting minutes, and technical briefs.
Document success stories and lessons learned in collaboration with the monitoring evaluation research and learning team.
Support data collection for the development of the state primary health care strengthening roadmap including infrastructure and human resources for health data verification.
Assist with capacity building initiatives for government agencies and health personnel.
Support the design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks for health systems strengthening activities.
Support the state in developing a realistic primary health care strengthening roadmap based on available resources including infrastructure development, service delivery, human resources for health and financing.
Qualifications and Experience
Three to five years of relevant experience in health programme implementation.
Experience writing activity reports and organizing professional meetings.
Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management at state and local government levels.
Strong understanding of primary health care systems and the health landscape in Kano State.
Experience working on donor funded projects or within NGO environments.
Familiarity with digital health solutions is an advantage.
Desired Competencies
Demonstrated expertise in health systems strengthening.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with proficiency in statistical and data analysis tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fluency in Hausa is essential for effective engagement at the local government and community levels.
Proven ability to manage relationships with diverse stakeholders including government agencies, international donors, and non governmental organizations.
Familiarity with the health sector landscape in Nigeria particularly in Kano State.
