🎯

Job Summary

The Local Capacity Strengthening / Health Workforce Development Officer will support workforce development initiatives by assessing needs, designing and delivering training, and strengthening systems for health workers and local partners.

The role emphasizes stakeholder engagement, mentorship, training coordination, and monitoring progress, particularly within donor-funded health programs.

🧾

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct capacity assessments to identify health workforce gaps
  • Develop and adapt training modules, curricula, and capacity-building plans
  • Plan and deliver training sessions, workshops, and mentorship programs (NTOTs)
  • Collaborate with Ministries of Health, NGOs, and partners
  • Provide technical support on HRH (Human Resources for Health) and program quality
  • Track training activities, maintain databases, and report outcomes
  • Support development and review of policies and guidelines
  • Document lessons learned and improve program implementation

🎓

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree + 4–6 years experience, OR
  • Master’s degree + 2–4 years experience, OR
  • Doctorate + 0–2 years experience
  • Field: Public Health, Health Administration, Development Studies, or related

💼

Experience & Skills

  • Experience in capacity building and health workforce development
  • Familiarity with donor-funded projects (NGO/Public Sector)
  • Knowledge of CHW programs, adult learning, M&E, and HRH systems
  • Strong communication, coordination, and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and data analysis tools
  • Ability to work independently and within diverse teams

Desirable

  • Master Trainer certification (e.g., iCCM)
  • Experience in specific health program areas
  • Familiarity with e-learning or digital health tools
