Overview
The Quality Improvement (QI) Support Adhoc will play a key role in supporting the implementation, coordination, and monitoring of QI activities across health facilities and communities. The role focuses on strengthening routine government systems for Onsite Supportive Supervision (OSS), promoting effective data use, and ensuring continuous improvement in service delivery.
This position is designed to enhance government-led QI implementation, support transition processes, and build the capacity of government teams to manage and sustain QI programs effectively.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support to QI Implementation (LGA, Facility & Community Levels):
- Assist health facilities and community workers in implementing QI activities using the 4-Step Methodology
- Conduct onsite supportive supervision visits and follow-ups to ensure progress and continuity
- Support the functionality of Facility QI Teams (FQITs), including meetings, documentation, and tracking improvement initiatives
2. Capacity Building & Mentorship:
- Support the facilitation of QI training sessions and on-the-job coaching
- Reinforce the use of QI tools, job aids, and standard guidelines during supervision visits
- Promote peer learning and participate in Supervisors’ Support Meetings (SSMs)
3. Data Collection, Monitoring & Use:
- Assist in timely data collection, validation, and reporting from facilities and communities
- Support health facilities in using data tools (e.g., dashboards, registers, HMIS/DHIS2) to identify service gaps
- Track key indicators, including action plan implementation and improvement outcomes
4. Strengthening Government Ownership:
- Collaborate with LGA and state health teams to plan and implement QI activities
- Engage with stakeholders such as Ministries of Health and Primary Healthcare Development Agencies
- Facilitate communication between health facilities, LGAs, and state-level teams
5. Documentation & Reporting:
- Contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, and program updates
- Maintain accurate records of supervision visits, meetings, and QI progress
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in a health-related field (e.g., Nursing, Midwifery, Public Health, Community Health)
Experience:
- Minimum of 2–4 years’ experience in health service delivery or public health programs
- Experience working within government health systems is an added advantage
Skills & Competencies:
- Basic understanding of Quality Improvement methodologies
- Experience in supervision, mentoring, or program implementation
- Strong data collection, analysis, and decision-making skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management tools
- Ability to work across multiple facilities and within assigned LGAs
