TaRL Africa is currently recruiting for the position of Associate, Program Delivery and Training in Kebbi State. This is a full time mid level role within the Program Delivery and Training department. The successful candidate will report to the Country Regional Manager Programs for Kebbi. TaRL Africa is an initiative hosted by Empower Learning Africa, a not for profit organization headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, with operations across multiple African countries including Nigeria. Established in 2019 through a collaboration between Pratham and J PAL, the initiative focuses on improving foundational learning outcomes for children through the Teaching at the Right Level approach. The organization partners with governments and stakeholders across Sub Saharan Africa to design and scale education programs that enhance literacy and numeracy. Since its establishment, TaRL Africa has reached over 7 million children.
The Associate, Program Delivery and Training will support the implementation of the TaRL program in Kebbi State, particularly for out of school children and primary school learners. The role focuses on strengthening government systems and building capacity to ensure effective delivery of TaRL classes. The Associate will work closely with Local Government Area and community level stakeholders to support implementation, learning, and adaptation of program strategies.
A key aspect of the role is strengthening teacher and mentor capacity to improve instructional quality. The Associate will provide coaching and support using the TaRL methodology, contribute to the development of teaching and learning materials, and ensure continuous improvement through structured feedback and reflection processes. The role also involves building the capacity of local education authorities and community actors to independently manage and sustain program activities.
The Associate will play a critical role in leveraging data for program improvement. This includes supporting accurate data collection, monitoring learning outcomes, and generating reports that inform decision making. By using data insights, the role contributes to identifying learning gaps, improving teaching effectiveness, and supporting evidence based adjustments during program implementation.
The position also contributes to innovation and learning by documenting classroom experiences, identifying best practices, and supporting adaptive program design. The Associate will help ensure that program delivery remains responsive to local realities and evolving challenges within the education system.
Community engagement is an important component of the role. The Associate will build strong relationships with parents, local leaders, and stakeholders to promote program activities and strengthen support for foundational learning. This includes sharing program insights with communities and encouraging active participation to improve student attendance and learning outcomes.
In terms of coordination, the Associate will serve as a key liaison for TaRL activities at the local level, ensuring alignment with government officials and school leadership. The role requires proactive identification of implementation challenges and facilitation of timely and context appropriate solutions. Regular reporting and sharing of field insights will support effective program delivery and decision making at the regional level.
Candidates are expected to hold an HND or bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, or a related field, with two to four years of relevant experience in field based roles. Experience in teacher training, mentoring, or working with out of school children is an advantage. Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential. Candidates must be willing to travel within Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara States and be proficient in local languages.
