Job Opportunity: Assistant, Program Delivery and Training PD and T Kano

TaRL Africa is inviting applications for the position of Assistant, Program Delivery and Training in Kano State. This is a full time entry level role within the Program Delivery and Training department, based in Kano, Nigeria. The successful candidate will report to the Coordinator, Program and Coordinator, PD and T. The application deadline for this position is 29th April 2026.

TaRL Africa is an initiative hosted by Empower Learning Africa, a not for profit organization headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, with operations across several African countries including Nigeria. Established in 2019 through a partnership between Pratham and J PAL, the initiative focuses on improving foundational learning outcomes for children using the Teaching at the Right Level approach. The organization works with governments and partners across Sub Saharan Africa to design and scale impactful education programs. Since its inception, TaRL Africa has reached over 7 million children.

The Assistant, Program Delivery and Training will support the implementation of the TaRL program in Kano State, particularly targeting out of school children and learners in primary schools. The role is focused on strengthening the capacity of government actors and ensuring effective delivery of TaRL classes to improve learning outcomes. The position requires close collaboration with Local Government Area stakeholders and active participation in field level activities.

The role includes supporting teacher and mentor capacity building to improve instructional quality. The Assistant will provide coaching and guidance using the TaRL methodology, contribute to the development of teaching materials, and ensure continuous improvement through structured feedback and reflection processes. The role also involves strengthening the capacity of local education authorities to independently manage and sustain program activities.

Data plays a central role in this position. The Assistant will support accurate data collection, monitoring, and reporting to track learning outcomes and inform decision making. By analyzing data, the role contributes to identifying learning gaps, improving teaching practices, and supporting evidence based program adjustments at the local level.

The position also contributes to innovation and learning by documenting field experiences, identifying best practices, and supporting adaptive program design. The Assistant will help ensure that program delivery remains responsive to local challenges and evolving educational needs.

Community engagement is another key aspect of the role. The Assistant will work with parents, community leaders, and other stakeholders to build support for foundational learning. This includes sharing program insights, encouraging school attendance, and fostering community ownership of education initiatives.

In terms of coordination, the Assistant will act as a liaison between TaRL Africa and local stakeholders, ensuring alignment with government priorities and smooth implementation of activities. The role requires proactive problem solving and timely reporting of field insights to support effective program delivery.

Candidates are expected to hold an HND or bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, or a related field, with two to four years of relevant experience in education or community based programs. Experience in teacher training, mentoring, or working with out of school children is an advantage. Strong communication skills, project management ability, and willingness to travel within Kano State are essential. Proficiency in local languages is required.
