DDP works with governments, philanthropic organizations, development agencies, corporations and individuals across multiple countries, using strategic foresight, rigorous data analysis, skilled facilitation and practical on-the-ground experience to deliver measurable impact.
ABOUT THE ROLE
DDP is seeking an Associate, Knowledge Management and Research to lead the development and day-to-day management of its knowledge management function.
The role will oversee DDP’s internal knowledge base, ensuring that information supporting staff and project delivery is properly organized, accessible and reusable.
The Associate will also manage external knowledge products that strengthen DDP’s visibility, influence and thought leadership, including research outputs, learning briefs, policy notes, blog posts and peer-reviewed publications.
The position also provides methodological oversight for selected research projects, particularly quantitative and mixed-methods research, and supports the translation of research findings into practical applications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
INTERNAL KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT AND LEARNING
Design, build and operate DDP’s central knowledge repository, including folder architecture, taxonomy, tagging protocols, naming conventions and version-control standards.
Onboard staff to the repository and provide ongoing support to ensure knowledge management standards are consistently followed.
Lead the revision and execution of DDP’s learning agenda.
Translate the learning agenda into quarterly learning products and track completion against agreed targets.
Design and facilitate knowledge-capture processes, including after-action reviews, project debriefs and lessons-learned sessions.
Document lessons learned, success stories and programmatic insights from active and completed projects for reuse across the portfolio.
Monitor repository health, including access, usage, gaps, duplication and outdated materials, and take corrective action where necessary.
Support the institutionalization of knowledge management through standards, workflows and tools that can be sustained beyond individual projects or staff members.
EXTERNAL KNOWLEDGE PRODUCTS AND DISSEMINATION
Oversee the production of external knowledge products, including:
Learning briefs
Technical briefs
Peer-reviewed articles
Policy notes
Research abstracts
Case studies
Conference presentations
Manage dissemination activities to ensure DDP’s evidence and programme insights reach relevant audiences.
Coordinate external contributions and support the development of knowledge products tailored to government, donor and development partner audiences.
Ensure external outputs meet appropriate quality and editorial standards.
Support the packaging of research findings and programmatic insights for wider audiences.
TECHNICAL RESEARCH AND METHODOLOGICAL SUPPORT
Provide methodological oversight for selected research projects.
Support research design, implementation and analysis, particularly quantitative and mixed-methods research.
Develop and review research protocols, methodologies, frameworks and analytical tools.
Provide technical guidance to project teams to strengthen research rigour and quality.
Mentor project teams on research methods and analytical approaches.
Support the identification of priority evidence gaps and research questions.
Support stakeholder participation and engagement in research activities.
STRATEGIC CONTRIBUTION
Contribute to DDP’s research and knowledge management strategy.
Identify opportunities for research, learning and knowledge uptake.
Support strategic dissemination of evidence and organizational learning.
Represent DDP at relevant conferences, professional meetings and other knowledge-sharing forums when required.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Demonstrated expertise in knowledge management principles and practice, including repository design, taxonomy and dissemination strategy.
Excellent research design and methodological expertise, particularly in quantitative and mixed-methods research.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
PhD or Master’s degree in:
Public Health
Epidemiology
International Development
Demography
Social Statistics
Or another relevant research-oriented discipline in the health or social sciences.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
3–4 years of relevant professional experience in development, research, knowledge management or a related field.
Demonstrated experience designing and managing knowledge repositories, including taxonomy, tagging and documentation systems.
Experience producing high-quality research and knowledge products.
Demonstrated experience in knowledge management and organizational learning.
Experience developing and implementing research or learning agendas.
Experience working with research teams, consultants and development partners.
Experience translating research findings into practical recommendations and policy products.
Experience producing research reports, technical documents and policy briefs.
Experience with qualitative research and analysis tools such as ATLAS.ti or equivalent is an advantage.
Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Miro, Notion or similar collaboration and knowledge management tools.
Familiarity with development and research issues, particularly in health and economic development, is an advantage.
