Field Pharmacist – Monguno & Magumeri

Job Purpose
The Field Pharmacist will support pharmacy operations at the project level by ensuring proper stock management, storage, and distribution of medicines and medical supplies.
The role also includes:
- Accurate data management
- Safe dispensing of medications
- Providing treatment guidance and patient counseling
Key Responsibilities
Data Collection & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of:
- Stock levels
- Consumption rates
- Medicine usage
- Update stock cards and inventory systems regularly
- Provide reliable data to central pharmacy and supervisors
- Use inventory tools (stock cards, delivery notes, databases) effectively
Supply Management
- Receive and verify medical supplies (quantity & quality)
- Report discrepancies to supervisors
- Prepare supply requests based on:
- Consumption trends
- Stock levels
- Supply timelines
- Coordinate with Project Manager and medical team on stock transfers
Stock Management
- Maintain pharmacy stock according to best practices:
- Proper categorization
- Alphabetical arrangement
- Expiry tracking
- Apply FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) principle
- Monitor minimum stock levels and consumption rates
- Conduct monthly physical inventory
- Report expired, damaged, or missing items
- Ensure cleanliness and proper storage conditions
- Coordinate safe disposal of expired/damaged items
Treatment & Patient Care
- Dispense medications according to prescriptions
- Provide:
- Dosage instructions (posology)
- Usage guidance and precautions
- Prepare daily and weekly drug supplies
- Ensure readiness of medical equipment
Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with INTERSOS pharmaceutical procedures
- Monitor drug quality and report issues (pharmacovigilance)
- Promote rational drug use in collaboration with medical teams
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm or PharmD)
- Valid registration with the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN)
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in pharmacy practice (preferred)
- Experience in humanitarian or field settings is an advantage
Technical Skills
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Internet)
- Inventory and stock management knowledge
