The Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is recruiting for the position of Communications Officer – Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) in Kaduna State. CRS is a global humanitarian and development organization operating in over 99 countries, focused on supporting vulnerable populations through impactful health, education, and emergency response programmes.

This position supports the CGPP project, with a strong emphasis on Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) strategies aimed at improving polio eradication efforts and routine immunization uptake. The role is central to strengthening community trust, addressing misinformation, and increasing vaccine acceptance across target communities.

The Communications Officer will be responsible for developing and managing high-quality communication materials, including stories, photos, videos, fact sheets, brochures, and other advocacy tools tailored for diverse audiences such as government institutions, donors, partners, religious leaders, and media outlets. The role also involves adapting key messages for different platforms, including social media and newsletters, to ensure consistent and effective dissemination of information.

A key part of the job includes supporting media engagement by building relationships with local journalists, coordinating press activities, and ensuring strong visibility during project events. The officer will also provide technical communication support during community outreach activities, advocacy meetings, and engagement forums.

Additionally, the role involves working closely with government health agencies, development partners, and community-based organizations to analyze communication data and strengthen RCCE interventions. The officer will contribute to monitoring and evaluation efforts, documentation of success stories, and generation of evidence to improve program learning and effectiveness.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, International Relations, or a related field, along with at least five years of experience in humanitarian or development communication roles. Experience in health or immunization programs, particularly polio-related interventions, is highly desirable. Strong skills in Microsoft Office and design tools such as Adobe InDesign and Canva are also important.

The role requires excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work effectively in multicultural environments and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
