VAWG Social Worker – International Medical Corps (Katsina, Nigeria)
International Medical Corps (IMC) is currently recruiting a VAWG Social Worker to support its Protection Programme in Katsina State, Nigeria. This role focuses on delivering psychosocial support services and strengthening community-based interventions to address Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).

Job Summary
The VAWG Social Worker will be responsible for planning and implementing psychosocial support (PSS) activities, conducting awareness campaigns, and supervising outreach volunteers. The role also involves engaging communities, strengthening referral systems, and supporting survivors through safe and confidential processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver psychosocial support sessions at Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS), PHCs, and community centers
- Promote IMC’s integrated VAWG services to institutions and communities
- Conduct awareness campaigns, safety audits, and focus group discussions
- Support safe identification and referral of VAWG survivors to case management services
- Maintain and update service mapping of relevant providers
- Supervise and monitor outreach volunteers
- Prepare timely activity reports and documentation
- Engage men and boys to promote gender equality and protection
- Participate in trainings, meetings, and other program activities
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Relevant experience in social work or community-based programming
- Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated empathy and respect for diverse communities
- Commitment to advancing women’s rights and resilience
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience working on VAWG or protection programs
- Background in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)
- Experience engaging communities across project cycles
- Knowledge of accountability and safeguarding principles
