Role Overview
The PSS Officer will work under the supervision of the Program Manager with technical guidance from the MHPSS Specialist or Protection Officer. The role involves implementing psychosocial support activities including structured group sessions individual counselling and stress management support. The officer will also support referrals assessments and protection monitoring activities.
Key Responsibilities
PSS Program Implementation
Plan and deliver structured group and individual PSS sessions tailored to age gender and diversity needs
Develop session plans and prepare materials for delivery
Provide individual case management including assessment planning support referrals and documentation
Conduct awareness sessions on stress and available PSS services
Ensure continuous follow up while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards
Support service mapping and referral coordination
Update tracking systems with accurate weekly data and contribute to program reporting
Protection Monitoring and Assessments
Monitor and report protection concerns in target communities
Conduct protection interviews using approved tools and procedures
Meet monthly data collection targets with accurate reporting
Ensure validation and reliability of collected data
Report emerging protection risks promptly
Provide referrals or direct support to at risk individuals
Support PSS needs assessments as required
Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology Social Work or a related field
Experience
2 to 4 years of experience in similar roles within NGOs
Experience working in diverse and humanitarian settings
Skills and Competencies
Strong communication teamwork and interpersonal skills
Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities effectively
Commitment to humanitarian principles and human rights
Problem solving skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic digital tools
Languages
Fluency in local language is essential
Working knowledge of English is preferred
