Afreximbank Internship Programme 2026
Applications are now open for the Afreximbank Internship Programme 2026, offering students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain practical experience in shaping Africa’s trade and economic development. The programme is designed to expose participants to real projects while building skills in trade finance, business, and development.
African Export-Import Bank is a multilateral financial institution established to promote and finance trade within Africa and between Africa and the rest of the world. Headquartered in Cairo, the bank operates across several regions with offices in Abuja, Harare, Abidjan, Kampala, Yaoundé, and Bridgetown.
The internship programme runs for up to six months and is offered twice a year. Selected candidates will work closely with experienced professionals, contribute to ongoing projects, and gain a deeper understanding of trade finance and Africa’s economic landscape.
The programme is open to full time undergraduate and postgraduate students in recognized institutions. Preferred fields include economics, finance, accounting, business administration, law, engineering, sciences, and social sciences. Applicants must be between 20 and 32 years old and should be nationals of Afreximbank member states, students of African descent in the diaspora, or individuals whose vision aligns with Africa’s development goals. Fluency in English or French is required, while knowledge of Arabic or Portuguese is an added advantage.
Successful interns will receive a monthly stipend of 1000 USD and a housing allowance of 500 USD if relocating. The programme also covers return travel costs and provides one week of hotel accommodation during the induction period. Interns are however responsible for their general living expenses including feeding and insurance.
Applications require submission of a CV, application letter, passport copy, academic certificates, recommendation letter, and a statement of intent. The deadline to apply is 30 April 2026.
