Overview
UNESCO is inviting passionate youth leaders and representatives of youth-led organizations and networks actively engaged in climate action to apply for positions on the YoU-CAN Steering Committee. This is a unique opportunity to shape global youth-led climate initiatives and contribute directly to UNESCO’s efforts in addressing climate change.
The YoU-CAN Steering Committee, comprising 15 members, is seeking to fill 8 key positions for a two-year term (2026-2027). These roles are crucial for guiding the network’s strategic direction and facilitating collaboration with the UNESCO Secretariat.
Available Positions
The 8 positions to be filled include:
• Main Coordinator / Deputy Coordinator: Leads YoU-CAN’s overall progress, serving as the primary focal point for the Steering Committee and liaising with the UNESCO Secretariat.
• Thematic Coordinators (4 positions):
• Sciences Coordinator
• Education Coordinator
• Culture Coordinator
• Information Coordinator
• These roles facilitate activities between the Steering Committee and UNESCO Secretariat in their respective thematic areas.
• Regional Coordinators (3 positions):
• Latin America & Caribbean Coordinator
• Asia and the Pacific Coordinator
• Europe and North America Coordinator
Key Responsibilities of Steering Committee Members
As a member of the YoU-CAN Steering Committee, you will:
• Develop and implement innovative youth climate action strategies globally.
• Represent youth voices at international climate events and forums.
• Build strategic partnerships and support cross-sectoral activities within the network.
• Actively contribute to shaping the future of youth climate engagement with UNESCO.
