💼 Job Overview
The WASH Activity Manager will lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of WASH interventions in line with project objectives and donor requirements. The role involves supervising field teams, ensuring quality delivery of activities, and adapting programmes to meet the evolving needs of affected communities.
🧩 Key Responsibilities
1. Diagnostics & Project Design
- Participate in needs assessments and project design
- Contribute to technical proposals, budgets, and operational planning
- Support development of logical frameworks and technical documentation
- Strengthen team capacity through training and technical support
2. Implementation & Monitoring
- Develop detailed activity plans and guide field teams
- Ensure quality execution of WASH activities in line with standards
- Monitor progress using SI tools and indicators
- Identify challenges and adjust programmes where necessary
- Coordinate with logistics and administration for smooth operations
3. Team Management (HRM)
- Supervise and support WASH teams and team leaders
- Conduct trainings, meetings, and performance follow-ups
- Ensure adherence to safety and security protocols
4. Reporting & Representation
- Prepare regular internal and donor reports
- Maintain communication with stakeholders including government and partners
- Represent SI in coordination meetings and forums
- Support documentation such as MOUs and handover reports
5. Capitalization
- Document lessons learned and best practices
- Ensure proper handover and knowledge sharing
🎓 Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Water/Sanitation Engineering, Geology, or Hydrology
- Minimum 3 years of humanitarian experience and at least 2 years in a similar role
- Experience in deep borehole drilling and contractor management
- Strong understanding of project cycle management
🛠️ Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, etc.)
- Strong MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, advanced Excel)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in high-pressure and security-sensitive environments
- Team leadership, planning, and problem-solving abilities
- Fluency in English (knowledge of local languages is an advantage)
