Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Role Overview
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for translating the organisation’s strategic vision into effective operational execution. The role involves overseeing programmes, managing financial and administrative systems, driving team performance, and ensuring overall delivery excellence.
The COO will ensure that systems, processes, and teams are fully aligned to support the organisation’s mission-driven growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Execution
- Oversee daily operations, programmes, and internal systems
- Ensure timely and high-quality implementation of projects and initiatives
- Represent the organisation in high-level engagements when required
2. Programme Management
- Lead execution of accelerator programmes, bootcamps, and capacity-building initiatives
- Monitor programme progress, budgets, and KPIs
- Support fundraising and capital mobilisation efforts by engaging donors, investors, and partners
3. Financial Oversight
- Supervise annual budget development
- Ensure financial accountability, transparency, and reporting compliance
4. Human Resource Management
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and performance management
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning
5. Process Optimisation
- Improve operational efficiency through streamlined systems
- Introduce digital tools and best practices for project execution
6. Risk & Compliance
- Establish and oversee risk management systems
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements and internal policies
Requirements
- 7–10 years of professional experience, with at least 5–7 years in senior leadership or operations roles
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field (Master’s degree is an added advantage)
- Strong experience managing cross-functional teams (programmes, operations, partnerships, administration)
- Proven track record in financial planning, budgeting, and cost control
- Experience engaging with donors, investors, board members, and strategic partners
- Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills
