Malaria Consortium Nigeria, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders, continues to lead major malaria control programmes including SuNMaP, NetWorks, and MAPS. The organisation is currently recruiting qualified candidates for Data Collector roles to support ongoing malaria research and evaluation projects across Northern Nigeria.
1. Data Collectors – Sokoto (SMC Study Project)
Purpose of Assignment
To support a retrospective case–control study assessing how Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) affects severe malaria outcomes in children aged 3–59 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in training on study tools and protocols
- Extract anonymised clinical data from health facility records
- Identify eligible malaria cases and controls
- Trace caregivers and conduct structured interviews
- Collect and upload data using digital tools (ODK/KoboCollect)
- Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality
- Participate in daily reviews and resolve data issues
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Social Sciences, or related field
- 1–2 years experience in data collection or public health research
- Proficiency with digital data collection tools (ODK, KoboCollect)
- Strong communication skills (English and Hausa preferred)
- Attention to detail and adherence to protocols
- Must own a functional Android phone with internet access
- Familiarity with local terrain and culture
- Female candidates are strongly encouraged (especially in Northern states)
- Must not be a government employee
2. Data Collectors – Kebbi & Other States (MDA-AZM Evaluation)
Purpose of Assignment
To support End-of-Round (EoR) evaluation using LQAS methodology to assess treatment coverage and adherence during MDA-AZM interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend 2-day training on evaluation protocols
- Conduct household interviews using KoboCollect/SurveyCTO
- Upload daily survey data to central servers
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of collected data
- Address feedback from supervisors promptly
Requirements
- BSc/HND in Social Sciences or Health-related discipline
- Minimum of 2 years experience in public health data collection
- Experience with mobile data collection tools
- Previous LQAS survey experience (added advantage)
- Ability to speak local languages (Hausa, Kanuri, etc.)
- Must be resident in the state of application
- Willingness to work in remote areas
- Must not be government staff or part of MDA-AZM personnel
- Strong attention to detail and cultural sensitivity
Deliverables
- Complete and verified household survey datasets
- Timely and accurate daily data uploads
- Compliance with ethical standards (consent, confidentiality)
