GPON delivers integrated services across child protection, psychosocial support, WASH, education in emergencies, gender based violence mitigation, protection monitoring, nutrition, and public health. The organization operates across the BAY States and other regions of Nigeria, reaching millions of beneficiaries through emergency, nexus, and development programming.

Key Responsibilities
Safeguarding Implementation
Support the rollout of the Child Safeguarding Policy across project locations
Integrate safeguarding standards into child protection, psychosocial support, case management, and community activities
Conduct safeguarding risk assessments in schools, camps, and safe spaces
Monitor staff and volunteer adherence to safeguarding protocols
Reporting and Case Handling
Receive and document safeguarding concerns confidentially
Support safe and timely referrals using established referral pathways
Maintain secure safeguarding documentation and records
Escalate serious incidents to the Safeguarding Officer
Capacity Building and Awareness
Support safeguarding induction for staff and volunteers
Organize awareness sessions for children, caregivers, and community leaders
Promote child friendly reporting mechanisms
Monitoring and Compliance
Conduct regular safeguarding compliance checks
Support code of conduct monitoring
Track safeguarding action plans and mitigation measures
Community Engagement
Strengthen local safeguarding mechanisms through community structures
Promote safe participation of children in programme design
Support feedback and complaints mechanisms
Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Education, or related field
Minimum 1 to 2 years experience in child protection or safeguarding programming
Experience in humanitarian or conflict affected settings is preferred
Understanding of safeguarding principles, child protection minimum standards, and referral pathways
Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of child safeguarding and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse
Ability to identify safeguarding risks and support mitigation planning
Experience handling safeguarding concerns confidentially
Strong documentation and reporting skills
High level of integrity and ethical standards
Good facilitation and communication skills
Ability to work with vulnerable groups in a culturally sensitive manner
Ability to manage sensitive cases professionally
Qualification
BSc or HND
OND or NCE
