African Youth for Peace Development and Empowerment Foundation (AFRYDEV) is a youth-led, non-profit organization focused on youth empowerment, peacebuilding, and development, especially in fragile and conflict-affected communities.

📌 Position Overview

The Gender & Social Inclusion Assistant will support the implementation of gender-transformative programming, including community dialogues, GBV risk mitigation, and social norms change activities.

🧩 Key Responsibilities

  • Support Wakilan Sauyi dialogues and Social Analysis & Action (SAA) sessions
  • Coordinate weekly and bi-weekly community dialogue sessions
  • Supervise facilitators and ensure quality delivery of gender curricula
  • Organize GBV risk consultations and support safe referral pathways
  • Promote gender mainstreaming across all project activities
  • Conduct gender sensitization sessions for staff and partners
  • Track participation of women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs)
  • Document success stories, behavioral change, and gender reports
  • Support marking of key gender events (e.g., International Women’s Day)
  • Build capacity of community leaders and local partners

🎓 Qualifications & Experience

  • HND / Bachelor’s in Gender Studies, Sociology, Social Work, Development Studies, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years experience in gender or social inclusion programming
  • Experience in GBV prevention, women empowerment, or social norms change
  • Experience facilitating community dialogues and training sessions
  • Familiarity with Northeast Nigeria context (preferred)

🛠️ Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of gender equality & inclusion
  • Knowledge of GBV risk mitigation and safeguarding principles
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to handle sensitive topics
  • Good documentation and reporting skills
  • Basic understanding of MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning)

🌍 Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work in conservative and rural communities
  • Fluency in English (Hausa is an advantage)
  • Willingness to travel within project locations
