Technical Advice Connect Ltd/GTE (TAConnect), a leading Nigerian non-profit organisation focused on delivering innovative technical assistance to strengthen public systems, is currently recruiting experienced professionals for the role of Team Lead, State. This is a senior-level, full-time position available in Lagos and Gombe States.

About the Role

The Team Lead, State will provide overall leadership, coordination, and strategic direction for TAConnect’s programmes at the state level. The role is responsible for managing technical, programmatic, operational, and communication activities to ensure the successful implementation of interventions in maternal, newborn, and child health plus nutrition (MNCH+N), primary healthcare (PHC) systems strengthening, and related public health initiatives.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring that programme objectives are achieved efficiently, on time, and in alignment with donor expectations and organisational priorities. The Team Lead will also serve as the organisation’s key representative at the state level, engaging government stakeholders, partners, and donors while strengthening TAConnect’s visibility and impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of all programme activities within the state, ensuring alignment with approved work plans and achievement of targets.
• Provide technical and programmatic oversight to ensure high-quality implementation of interventions.
• Strengthen monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEAL) systems to support data-driven decision-making.
• Manage state-level budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and compliance with financial guidelines.
• Identify and mitigate operational, financial, and reputational risks.
• Lead, mentor, and supervise the state team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative work environment.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, donors, and implementing partners.
• Develop and implement communication strategies to enhance programme visibility and support advocacy efforts.
• Represent TAConnect at state-level technical meetings, policy dialogues, and stakeholder engagements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field.
• Master’s degree in Public Health or a related discipline (required).
• Minimum of 6–8 years’ progressive experience in public health programming.
• Proven experience managing large-scale health programmes and leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated expertise in RMNCH, nutrition, family planning, or health systems strengthening.
• Strong experience working with government stakeholders, donors, and development partners.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and programme management skills.
• Experience in monitoring, evaluation, and data utilisation.
• Financial management and budgeting expertise.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to influence stakeholders, negotiate effectively, and drive results.
• High level of professionalism, accountability, and adaptability.

Additional Requirements

• Willingness to travel within the assigned state as required.
• Knowledge of local context, language, and health systems is an added advantage.
