Senior MEAL Officer – Plateau State

COOPI – Cooperazione Internazionale is currently seeking a qualified and experienced professional for the role of Senior MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) Officer in Plateau State. This position is suited for individuals with strong analytical, reporting, and field monitoring experience within humanitarian or development programs.

Job Overview

The Senior MEAL Officer will play a central role in strengthening COOPI Nigeria’s MEAL systems and ensuring high-quality data collection, analysis, and reporting across projects. The role supports program teams in tracking performance, ensuring accountability, and promoting evidence-based decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

1. MEAL System Strengthening

• Support implementation of COOPI’s MEAL systems in line with internal policies and donor requirements
• Maintain structured databases, beneficiary lists, and tracking tools
• Ensure proper documentation and filing of MEAL-related reports and datasets

2. MEAL Planning

• Assist in developing MEAL plans, log frames, and indicator tracking tools
• Support creation of data collection plans for baseline, monitoring, and endline assessments
• Collaborate with program teams to design effective MEAL frameworks

3. MEAL Implementation

• Support data collection, cleaning, analysis, and management processes
• Conduct regular monitoring visits to project sites
• Coordinate surveys such as Baseline, Needs Assessments, KAP Surveys, Post Distribution Monitoring (PDM), and Endline surveys
• Assist in evaluations, internal reviews, and workshops

4. Accountability

• Promote participatory approaches in monitoring and reporting
• Support implementation of Complaint and Feedback Mechanisms (CFM)
• Track and analyze beneficiary feedback to inform program improvements
• Assist in rolling out accountability tools such as satisfaction surveys and helpdesk systems

5. Reporting and Learning

• Provide timely and high-quality data for donor and internal reports
• Prepare monitoring reports, dashboards, and analytical summaries
• Document lessons learned and best practices
• Participate in review meetings and learning sessions to improve program outcomes

6. Other Duties

• Perform additional tasks assigned by the MEAL Manager, Head of Programs, or Project Managers

Qualifications & Experience

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in MEAL or M&E roles within humanitarian or development settings
• Strong experience working with displacement-affected populations is an advantage
• Excellent communication, writing, and analytical skills
• Proven experience in capacity building and training facilitation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
• Experience with database management software and M&E tools
• Familiarity with the Nigerian operational context
