The Centre for Development Communication (CDC), formerly known as MAWA Foundation, is inviting applications from qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Research Officer. CDC is an independent development communication think tank committed to advancing sustainable development through research, policy engagement, strategic communication, and people-centred development practice.
The organisation works at the intersection of research, advocacy, and communication to influence policy, strengthen development outcomes, and promote inclusive growth across communities.
The Research Officer will play a vital role in supporting CDC’s research and programmatic activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting high-quality research, analysing data, and producing evidence-based reports that inform policy and development practice. The role also involves developing compelling grant proposals to support organisational growth and sustainability.
Key responsibilities include preparing policy briefs, journal articles, and technical reports, as well as supporting Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) processes and project design. The Research Officer will also coordinate research initiatives and contribute to policy engagement efforts, ensuring that research outputs effectively influence decision-making and development programming.
To be considered for this role, applicants must possess a Master’s degree in Development Communication, Communication, Development Studies, or a related social science discipline. Candidates should have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in research, communication, or within the NGO/development sector.
Strong academic writing, analytical thinking, and communication skills are essential for success in this position. The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to produce high-quality technical content, work independently, and contribute effectively within a collaborative team environment.
