About the Role
The Plant Assistant Safety Manager supports the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of workplace health and safety programmes within the plant. The role ensures compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, CCH requirements, KORE requirements and industry standards. The position promotes a proactive safety culture that minimises risks, incidents and occupational injuries, with the goal of ensuring everyone returns home safe every day while working in line with regulatory requirements.

Requirements
Professional safety certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH or OSHA is required and membership of ISPON is an added advantage.
Applicants must hold a BSc or HND in Engineering, Sciences or a related field.

Key Responsibilities
The role will support the implementation of plant wide safety policies, procedures, annual OHS plans and programmes.
The role will support the development and review of Job Hazard Analyses and risk assessments.
The role will coordinate the activities of plant safety specialists.
The role will schedule and execute contractor forums and contractor engagement activities.
The role will support regulatory inspections and internal and external audits.
The role will maintain accurate documentation of safety records, permits and certifications and ensure the Occupational Health and Safety Management System is maintained in line with ISO 45001.
The role will assist in investigating accidents, incidents and near misses and prepare incident reports with corrective actions and lessons learnt.
The role will track closure of safety actions and monitor effectiveness.
The role will coordinate and deliver safety induction for new hires and refresher training programmes.
The role will conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings and promote safety awareness campaigns and behavioural safety initiatives.
The role will assist in developing and maintaining emergency response plans and coordinate emergency drills including fire, evacuation and spill response.
The role will maintain safety statistics and prepare monthly safety reports.
