About the “EU Support to End Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (ESGBV) in Nigeria” Programme 

International IDEA will be proudly managing the “EU Support to End Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (ESGBV) in Nigeria” programme. This critical initiative aims to significantly reduce Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) across Nigeria. It seeks to achieve this by strengthening existing laws and policies, expanding access to comprehensive survivor-centered essential services, and actively driving positive social-norm change within communities. The programme is committed to ensuring that all individuals, with particular attention to women, girls, and the most vulnerable, have their rights promoted and protected from all forms of violence. This will be achieved through robust legislation and effective enforcement, while simultaneously improving the rule of law, tackling impunity, and enhancing access to justice via a more independent, effective, responsive, transparent, and gender-sensitive justice sector. The ESGBV programme directly advances Sustainable Development Goals 5 (Gender Equality) and 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).

About the Job: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer 

International IDEA is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Monitoring and Evaluation Officer to play a pivotal role in the successful execution of the ESGBV programme. The incumbent will be responsible for managing the coordination, development, and implementation of the programme’s results management framework. This role requires providing technical leadership and assistance, particularly in relation to robust monitoring, comprehensive evaluation, and accurate reporting. The M&E Officer will facilitate critical coordination between International IDEA’s regional office, Headquarters, and the donor, ensuring transparent and effective communication of programme progress and impact.

Key Responsibilities 

  Develop, refine, and implement comprehensive monitoring and evaluation frameworks, tools, processes, and practices for the ESGBV programme, ensuring they meet both donor requirements and International IDEA’s internal standards.

  Coordinate and lead all activity and outcome reporting related to programme evaluations and the ongoing monitoring of results.

  Support ESGBV programme planning, implementation, and reporting, ensuring M&E considerations are integrated throughout the project lifecycle.

  Provide technical guidance and capacity building to programme staff and partners on M&E best practices.

  Ensure timely collection, analysis, and interpretation of programme data to inform decision-making and adaptive management.

  Facilitate external evaluations and audits as required, ensuring data quality and methodological rigor.

Requirements 

  Education: University degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Statistics, Public Policy, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an advantage.

  Coordination: Demonstrated ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, and civil society organizations.

  Ethical Conduct: Strong commitment to ethical data collection, analysis, and reporting in sensitive contexts, particularly related to SGBV.
