Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), a globally recognized international medical humanitarian organization, is inviting applications for the position of Medical Doctor (Reserved Pool) in Kebbi State, Nigeria. MSF provides emergency medical assistance to populations affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters, and limited access to healthcare, operating with neutrality and independence regardless of race, religion, or political affiliation.

The Medical Doctor will be responsible for providing comprehensive clinical care, including diagnosing illnesses, prescribing treatment, and conducting both outpatient and inpatient consultations in line with MSF medical protocols. The role involves closely monitoring patient progress, conducting daily ward rounds, and making critical decisions regarding patient discharge or referral in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
Key duties also include ensuring proper use and management of medical supplies, maintaining hygiene and sterilization standards, and participating in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data. The successful candidate will play an active role in training and supporting paramedical staff, while working collaboratively with nurses and other team members to ensure high-quality patient care.
In emergency and critical care units such as ER and ICU, the Medical Doctor will conduct triage assessments, manage admissions, identify severe cases requiring urgent intervention, and ensure accurate documentation of patient records. Responsibilities also extend to monitoring patient progress through different treatment phases, managing complications, and ensuring appropriate follow-up care, including vaccinations upon discharge.
Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree and hold a valid license to practice medicine. A minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience is required. Previous experience in nutrition programmes, HIV/TB care, or pediatric wards will be considered an added advantage.
Fluency in English is essential, while knowledge of local languages such as Hausa or Fulani is desirable. Candidates should also have basic computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.
