Role Overview
The Technical Supervisor – WASH Infrastructure will support the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of WASH infrastructure, including installation, operation, and maintenance of water supply systems. The role will focus on conflict- and hazard-affected areas in Borno and Yobe States.
Supervision:
•Overall supervision: Program Manager – CCCM, Shelter, NFI & WASH
•Direct supervision: Project Assistant – WASH Infrastructure
Key Responsibilities
•Implement infrastructure activities, including construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of emergency water supply and habitation facilities
•Conduct field assessments, site selection, and feasibility checks
•Prepare material requests, verify technical specifications, and ensure quality of work delivered by contractors
•Develop technical layouts, measurements, bills of quantities (BoQs), and sketches
•Conduct site measurements, demarcations, and basic topographical checks
•Monitor site-level works for compliance with designs, safety standards, Sphere standards, and quality expectations
•Facilitate community engagement, including mobilization, sensitization, and feedback collection
•Coordinate between field operations teams and community representatives
•Provide daily updates and contribute to weekly/monthly reports
•Flag risks, variations, or deviations to supervisors
•Perform other related duties as assigned
Key Competencies & Requirements
•University degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Architecture, Public Health, or similar (min. 2 years experience)
•Diploma in related fields (min. 4 years experience)
•Minimum 4 years’ relevant experience in civil engineering/construction infrastructure in West Africa
•Experience managing construction contracts and supervising community infrastructure projects
•Knowledge of Shelter, WASH, CCCM programming, or site management is an advantage
•Strong engineering and site monitoring skills, IT literacy (MS Office, mobile data tools)
•Ability to interpret technical drawings and BoQs
•Excellent coordination, communication, analytical, and planning skills
•Proactive, independent, fast learner with strong interpersonal skills
•Upholds high ethical standards, respects diversity, and promotes inclusion
