Job Summary
The Market Development and Supply Systems Manager will be responsible for securing concrete employment and business opportunities for project participants. The role focuses on converting partnerships with processors, vocational institutions, government agencies and financial institutions into real job placements, supply contracts and inclusive sourcing agreements. The role is results driven and focused on creating measurable opportunities for youth, women and persons with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Private Sector Partnerships and Inclusive Sourcing
Secure commitments from processors for employment opportunities
Facilitate supply contracts between processors and smallholder groups
Support inclusive business plans and operational sourcing strategies
TVET and Workforce Pipeline
Establish partnerships with vocational institutions linked to job placements
Align training curricula with private sector labour needs
Financial and Market Linkages
Link small businesses to microfinance and commercial banks
Facilitate business to business agreements and purchase orders
Government and Regulatory Engagement
Work with regulatory agencies to support certification and compliance
Align project activities with government initiatives and programs
Disability Inclusion and OPD Partnerships
Partner with organizations of persons with disabilities
Support accessible and inclusive recruitment and workplace practices
Partnership Performance Management
Track job creation and business growth outcomes
Adjust partnership strategies to ensure project results
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in agribusiness, business administration, marketing, economics or related field with at least seven years of relevant experience
Or a master’s degree with at least five years of relevant experience
Experience in market development, value chain development or supply chain management
Proven results in improving market access, sales or employment for small businesses
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Nigeria’s food processing sector
Experience with donor funded development projects
Knowledge of inclusive sourcing and supplier development
Experience working with large processors and exporters
Familiarity with market systems development approaches
Knowledge of Nigeria’s regulatory and quality standards
Language Requirements
Fluency in written and spoken English
Knowledge of Hausa, Yoruba or Igbo is an advantage
Travel Requirement
At least fifty percent travel across project states
Supervision
May supervise market development officers, field staff and consultants
