Job Summary
The Communications Manager will lead and implement communications initiatives across TechnoServe Nigeria projects. The primary focus is to develop and drive the communications strategy for the Plastics Recycling Program in Nigeria while also supporting communications for agriculture and entrepreneurship programs. The role will engage media partners staff and stakeholders to strengthen visibility impact and learning.
Program Context
TechnoServe has over ten years of experience implementing market driven development programs across Nigeria. The Plastics Recycling Program in Nigeria supports a circular economy approach to reduce plastic waste and improve livelihoods of collectors aggregators and recyclers in Lagos Anambra and Kano States.
Key Responsibilities
Lead development and execution of the communications strategy for the Plastics Recycling Program
Produce high quality content including articles press releases blogs case studies and social media content
Engage media houses to secure coverage
Support creative design and content production
Plan and support project events and materials
Develop presentations videos and training materials
Ensure communications align with donor branding and project guidelines
Build staff capacity to collect stories and photos from the field
Coordinate with headquarters on digital assets and global communications
Support reporting translation and donor engagement
Identify milestones and opportunities to share learning globally
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with at least seven years experience in communications public relations journalism or marketing
Or a master’s degree with at least five years relevant experience
Strong writing and communication skills
Language Requirements
Fluency in English
Knowledge of Nigerian local languages is an advantage
Travel
Up to sixty percent travel
Preferred Experience
Experience with Nigerian media landscape
Experience with content management systems such as WordPress
Interest in international development and circular economy
Experience with design tools such as Canva or Adobe products
Skills and Competencies
Project and people management
Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
Photography or video production skills are an advantage
