JOB SUMMARY
The Community Mobilizer will support the implementation of the OptiMA and GiveWell community strategy in Kaita.
The role focuses on community mobilization, early identification and referral of children with acute malnutrition, Family MUAC, follow up of missed visits and non respondents, linkage to care, community feedback, safeguarding and monitoring of PPN and RUTF use.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement community engagement and mobilization activities across the 10 operational zones.
Maintain community maps and identify low coverage areas, distance barriers and priority villages.
Organize community meetings, awareness sessions and targeted dialogues with caregivers, fathers, grandmothers, religious leaders and other community stakeholders.
Mobilize communities for screening, Family MUAC campaigns, OTP and Mobile Clinic activities.
Conduct and support Family MUAC training and refresher sessions.
Support active case finding, community screening, referral and linkage to care.
Coordinate follow up of missed visits, defaulters and non respondents.
Conduct phone contacts and home visits to trace high risk cases and document outcomes.
Support supervision, coaching and capacity building of community volunteers.
Promote proper RUTF use and support household monitoring and verification.
Identify and escalate suspected RUTF diversion, sale, sharing or other concerns through approved channels.
Promote community feedback, complaints mechanisms, safeguarding and PSEA.
Maintain accurate community documentation, reports, line lists and monitoring records.
Work closely with Nutrition, M&E, Pharmacy, PSEA, Safeguarding, medical and community teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
Secondary school diploma or equivalent is required.
A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Behavioural Sciences, Public Health, Community Health, Nursing, Nutrition or a related field is an advantage.
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in community mobilization, health promotion, community engagement or social/community work.
Experience with volunteer follow up, household visits, tracing, community mapping and awareness activities.
Humanitarian or NGO experience is strongly preferred.
Experience in nutrition, CMAM, OptiMA, Family MUAC, defaulter follow up, community feedback or RUTF monitoring is an advantage.
SKILLS
Strong communication, facilitation, negotiation and problem solving skills.
Good documentation, data quality and reporting skills.
Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Experience with digital data collection tools such as ComCare or ODK is an advantage.
Fluency in Hausa is essential.
Working proficiency in English is essential.
Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Strong commitment to confidentiality, safeguarding, integrity and respectful engagement.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The position requires regular field travel to villages, PHCC and OTP facilities and Mobile Clinic catchment areas in Kaita LGA.
