JOB OPPORTUNITY: Health and Nutrition Coordinator

Save the Children invests in childhood and works globally to ensure children have a healthy start, access to education, and protection from harm. The organisation implements life-saving health, nutrition, education, and protection programmes in crisis and development settings.

The organisation is currently recruiting a Health and Nutrition Coordinator to lead Maternal, Child Health (MCH) and Nutrition interventions under the Core Group Polio Project (CGPP) in Katsina State.

Role Purpose:

The Health and Nutrition Coordinator will provide technical leadership and oversight for the implementation of integrated health and nutrition services, ensuring alignment with national and WHO standards. The role involves close collaboration with government agencies, UN partners, and community structures to strengthen maternal and child health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Programme Implementation & Leadership:

•Lead implementation of Maternal, Child Health and Nutrition activities under CGPP

•Oversee integrated health services including ANC, PNC, immunization, IMCI, and reproductive health

•Supervise nutrition interventions including screening, referral, and treatment of acute malnutrition

•Ensure adherence to national, WHO, and donor standards in service delivery

•Strengthen integration of health, nutrition, WASH, and FSL interventions

Capacity Building & Supervision:

•Train and supervise health workers, community mobilizers, and traditional birth attendants

•Support quality assurance in health facilities and community health systems

•Conduct field visits to monitor service delivery and improve quality

Coordination & Representation:

•Represent Save the Children in technical working groups and stakeholder forums

•Collaborate with government health agencies and partners at state and LGA levels

•Support outbreak response and emergency health coordination

Monitoring, Reporting & Planning:

•Contribute to donor reporting and programme documentation

•Support development of implementation plans, budgets, and concept notes

•Work with MEAL teams to ensure quality monitoring and evaluation

•Ensure proper supply chain and commodity management with logistics teams

Requirements:

•Medical Doctor or Public Health Specialist (clinical background required)

•Minimum 5 years’ experience in integrated primary healthcare and nutrition programmes

•Experience working with INGOs is required

•Strong knowledge of maternal, child health, and nutrition programming (CMAM experience an advantage)

•Strong communication, leadership, and reporting skills

•Willingness to travel extensively in the field
