The organisation is currently recruiting a Stabilization Centre (SC) Nurse to support the treatment of children with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) in Yobe State.
Role Purpose:
The SC Nurse will provide high-quality clinical and nutritional care for children with complicated SAM admitted to the Stabilization Centre. The role involves close collaboration with doctors and health teams to ensure effective treatment, monitoring, and recovery of patients in line with national guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Care & Treatment:
- Admit and manage patients according to SC admission criteria
- Provide nursing care for complicated SAM cases in line with national protocols
- Stabilize critical patients in collaboration with doctors
- Monitor patients across Phase 1, transition, and Phase 2 of treatment
- Report clinical complications promptly to medical staff
Patient Monitoring & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate patient records and monitoring charts
- Ensure proper documentation of medicines, supplies, and nutrition commodities
- Support timely data collection for SC reporting systems
- Assist in preparation of weekly and monthly reports
Capacity Building & Support:
- Mentor and train health workers and caregivers on SC protocols
- Ensure proper use of nutrition and medical guidelines
- Support stock control and proper use of resources
Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in General Nursing from a recognized institution
- Minimum of 3 years post-graduation experience
- Previous experience as an SC Nurse is required
- Experience in nutrition programming and INGOs is highly desirable
- Valid nursing practice license
- Fluency in English, Hausa, and Kanuri
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
