The International Rescue Committee is inviting applications from qualified candidates for the position of EH Hygiene Promotion Assistant based in Maiduguri Nigeria. Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein the organization is a global leader in humanitarian response supporting communities affected by conflict disaster and displacement.
This full time role focuses on implementing hygiene promotion activities at the community level to improve public health and sanitation outcomes. The successful candidate will support the EH Hygiene Promotion Officer in supervising hygiene activities training community hygiene promoters and establishing WASH committees and hygiene clubs. The role involves conducting household visits hygiene awareness sessions and distributing hygiene promotion materials to ensure communities adopt safe hygiene practices.
The position also requires close coordination with health nutrition protection and other sectors to deliver integrated humanitarian support. Candidates will be responsible for monitoring field activities maintaining accurate records and preparing regular reports while ensuring accountability and inclusion in all program interventions.
Applicants should possess a BSc or HND in Social Sciences Public Health Environmental Health or a related field with relevant experience in hygiene promotion and WASH programming. Strong communication skills teamwork and the ability to work in challenging environments are essential. Proficiency in English and Hausa is required along with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
