Overall Purpose of the Role

The Economic Recovery Assistant will support the implementation of DRC cash and voucher assistance programmes including multipurpose cash assistance in Gusau Zamfara State and Sokoto. The role focuses on strengthening livelihoods of beneficiaries through financial support training and complementary nutrition activities while ensuring coordination with stakeholders and internal teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

Supporting Cash and Voucher Assistance and Nutrition Activities

Identify screen and verify beneficiaries using project criteria. Support implementation of cash assistance programmes including unconditional and conditional cash grants vouchers and multipurpose cash assistance. Ensure smooth monthly cash distributions and proper beneficiary registration and sensitization. Manage distribution processes ensuring safety accountability and compliance with standards.

Organize and deliver business training and planning sessions for beneficiaries. Provide market information and guidance on business opportunities. Conduct awareness sessions on nutrition including diet diversity and infant feeding. Supervise nutrition related activities such as screenings monitoring referrals and reporting.

Oversee community volunteers supporting nutrition and economic recovery activities. Plan and monitor trainings and maintain accurate documentation including attendance and assessments. Support logistics for trainings and distributions. Conduct post distribution monitoring and follow up visits. Maintain proper records for reporting and submit weekly and monthly updates.

Capacity Building

Support training and development of community nutrition mobilizers. Deliver coaching and on the job support to volunteers and community workers. Assist in developing simple training materials and job aids. Monitor performance of trainees and provide feedback for improvement.

Stakeholder Coordination

Coordinate with local stakeholders including community leaders authorities and partner organizations. Ensure proper consultation throughout project implementation. Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and support coordination meetings including documentation and follow up actions. Help resolve local issues through effective communication and collaboration.

Monitoring and Evaluation

Work with the MEAL team to support monitoring and evaluation activities. Collect verify and submit field data accurately and on time. Support surveys post assistance visits and monitoring exercises. Assist in preparing reports dashboards and summaries. Maintain updated records and databases for reporting and audit purposes.

Representation

Represent DRC interests at local level when required. Build relationships with authorities NGOs and community leaders. Follow up on coordination meetings and share updates with the team. Escalate challenges and propose solutions to supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

University degree in Agriculture Social Sciences Economics Business Studies Languages or related field. Minimum of 2 years experience in cash and voucher assistance programming including multipurpose cash assistance. Experience working with displaced populations is required. Knowledge of North East or North West Nigeria context is an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

Good understanding of humanitarian programming and livelihoods support. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage field activities and work with communities. Good computer skills especially Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Languages

Fluency in English and local languages is required.

General Regulations

Staff must follow DRC policies on safety confidentiality and ethics. Staff must not engage in other paid work during the contract without authorization. Staff must not participate in activities that may harm DRC operations. Staff must not share project information or media without approval. All equipment must be returned at the end of the contract.
