Malaria Consortium, a leading non-profit organization focused on the prevention, control, and treatment of malaria and other communicable diseases, is currently recruiting Data Collectors (Quantitative Survey) to support the implementation of surveys under the SMC + VAS project in Bauchi and Niger States. The organization integrates malaria interventions with broader public health programs, including child health and neglected tropical diseases, to maximize impact among vulnerable populations.
Purpose of the Role
The engagement aims to support large-scale quantitative and qualitative surveys, including baseline (Post MNCHW 1), LQAS cycle assessments, and endline (Post MNCHW 2) surveys. These studies will evaluate the effectiveness, coverage, and acceptability of integrating Vitamin A Supplementation (VAS) with Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC), as well as its impact on other MNCHW interventions.
The surveys will cover multiple LGAs across Bauchi and Niger States, using structured sampling techniques to reach households and communities. Data collectors will play a key role in gathering high-quality field data using electronic platforms such as SurveyCTO or KoboCollect.
Key Responsibilities
Selected candidates will participate in training and conduct household-level interviews across assigned clusters. They will obtain informed consent, ensure confidentiality, and accurately administer questionnaires to eligible respondents. Data collectors are expected to meet daily targets (approximately 20–25 households per cluster), upload collected data daily, and promptly report field challenges to supervisors.
Additionally, they will ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data while adhering strictly to survey protocols and ethical standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must possess at least a National Diploma (ND), NCE, or equivalent in Social Sciences, Health, or a related field. Candidates should have 5–7 years of experience in public health research and data collection, with good knowledge of quantitative survey methodologies such as LQAS.
Proficiency in using mobile data collection tools is required, while prior experience with LQAS surveys is an added advantage. Candidates must be fluent in Hausa or Fulani, familiar with local communities, and currently residing in Bauchi or Niger State.
Applicants must not be government employees or currently engaged in SMC implementation activities. Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently, and good reporting skills are essential.
Additional Information
Successful candidates will be required to use their personal smartphones for data collection and travel within assigned communities. They must comply with all safeguarding and ethical standards set by Malaria Consortium.
