Project Overview

This role supports the Education Cannot Wait (ECW) – MYRP II Programme, targeting vulnerable children in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States. The project focuses on improving access to inclusive, quality education while promoting gender equality, resilience, and wellbeing.

🎯

Job Purpose

The Gender & Disability Inclusion Specialist will ensure that all programme activities are inclusive, equitable, and accessible, addressing the needs of girls, women, and persons with disabilities, while promoting safe and supportive learning environments.

🧾

Key Responsibilities

📌 Policy Development & Integration

  • Develop and implement gender and disability inclusion strategies
  • Review and adapt policies to ensure inclusiveness

🎓 Capacity Building

  • Design and deliver training on inclusive education practices
  • Mentor staff and stakeholders on gender-responsive programming

📊 Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Develop tools and indicators for tracking inclusion outcomes
  • Analyze data and recommend improvements

🤝 Community Engagement

  • Engage community leaders, parents, and youth
  • Promote awareness of gender equality and disability inclusion

📢 Advocacy & Representation

  • Represent GHIV Africa in meetings and forums
  • Advocate for inclusive education policies

📚 Research & Knowledge Management

  • Conduct research on best practices
  • Develop learning resources and documentation

🚨 Emergency Response

  • Integrate inclusion strategies into emergency interventions
  • Support crisis response planning for vulnerable groups

🎓

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Disability Studies, Law, Social Sciences, Education, or related field
  • Master’s degree is an added advantage

💼

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in gender equality and disability inclusion
  • Experience in education or humanitarian sector preferred
  • Proven track record in inclusive programme implementation

  • Strong data analysis, reporting, and M&E skills
