ABOUT ONE ACRE FUND
One Acre Fund is an agricultural organization that works with smallholder farmers to improve farm productivity, income and resilience. The organization provides services including farm supplies, tree seedlings, agricultural training, financing and other agricultural support.
One Acre Fund’s Nigeria programme was established in 2018 and is headquartered in Minna, Niger State.
ABOUT THE ROLE
One Acre Fund is seeking an exceptional commercial strategist to drive revenue growth for both smallholder farmers and One Acre Fund by scaling paid tree offerings across its operations in Nigeria.
The successful candidate will use commercial strategy, financial modelling, market research and field evidence to develop viable revenue models for tree-based products and services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
REVENUE STRATEGY
Design and manage the long-term Trees Revenue Strategy.
Develop monetization pathways for tree-based products and services.
Create pricing structures, delivery models and unit economics for different farmer segments.
Build financial models to assess business viability, margins and return on investment.
Explore alternative revenue opportunities including carbon finance, timber and non-timber products and fruit aggregation.
FARMER INTEGRATION
Develop strategies to increase adoption of secondary One Acre Fund products among Trees programme farmers.
Design cross-selling and conversion strategies.
Collaborate with relevant teams to bundle tree offerings with agricultural inputs and financial products.
Map farmer journeys and conversion funnels.
Identify incentives and touchpoints that can improve product adoption.
MARKET AGGREGATION AND VALUE CHAIN DEVELOPMENT
Work with Market Access and commercial teams to develop sustainable market linkages for tree fruits and timber.
Analyze agricultural value chains, market demand, quality requirements and pricing.
Develop scalable aggregation and delivery models that reduce transaction costs.
PILOT EXECUTION
Lead commercial pilots from concept development through validation.
Define KPIs and test commercial hypotheses.
Measure revenue outcomes in field settings.
Translate lessons from pilots into scalable frameworks, playbooks and recommendations.
Conduct willingness-to-pay assessments, pricing sensitivity studies and market research.
STAKEHOLDER COLLABORATION
Present business cases, conversion data and revenue projections to senior leadership and relevant departments.
Build cross-functional support for commercial strategies and initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
5 to 6 years of relevant professional experience.
Experience leading teams or entrepreneurial initiatives such as launching programmes, departments or projects.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Agricultural Economics, Finance, Development Economics, Economics, Strategic Management or a related commercial field.
Experience managing projects involving scale-up.
Experience implementing strategies based on field data and programme evidence.
Strong proficiency in Excel or financial modelling tools.
Ability to develop unit economic models, pricing analyses and revenue projections.
Experience developing monetization frameworks, product bundling strategies and go-to-market plans.
Understanding of agricultural market linkages, smallholder supply chains and off-take arrangements.
Understanding of carbon and agroforestry monetization models is an advantage.
Ability to design field tests, pricing experiments and farmer or customer surveys.
Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data and adapt strategies based on findings.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
MBA or Master’s Degree in Agribusiness, Finance, International Development or Sustainable Commerce.
Formal certification in Commercial Strategy or Financial Modelling.

ELIGIBILITY
The position is open to citizens or permanent residents of Nigeria and the other countries specified by One Acre Fund, including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Rwanda, Malawi, Burundi, Ethiopia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
