Job Purpose
The Communications Coordinator leads the Communications Hub and is responsible for developing and delivering creative and impactful communication strategies and products. The role drives public relations, digital communications, advocacy messaging, and media engagement to enhance ActionAid Nigeria’s visibility, campaigns, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and serve as the central communications focal point for national media activities.
Develop and implement effective communications and media strategies, including fundraising and marketing initiatives.
Manage documentation and publication of manuals, reports, and audiovisual materials while maintaining an updated institutional repository.
Strengthen staff and partner capacity in documentation and storytelling across thematic areas.
Build and maintain relationships with media, donors, government agencies, partners, and influencers.
Oversee digital and multimedia content production in line with global brand guidelines.
Coordinate advocacy and campaign communications to ensure strategic messaging alignment and timely delivery.
Track and report on communications metrics to inform learning and improvement.
Support production of annual reports in print and multimedia formats.
Undertake research and develop accurate, engaging content for campaigns and policy influencing.
Minimum Requirements
Education
First degree in Communications, Social Sciences, Arts or Humanities is essential.
Masters degree in a relevant field is desirable.
Membership of NIPR, APCON, NUJ or other relevant professional bodies is desirable.
Experience
Minimum of 7 years work experience, with at least 4 years in a similar role within the development sector.
Proven experience in managing communications, advocacy and campaigns projects.
Strong research, writing and copy-editing skills.
Experience in multimedia content production and digital communications.
Experience as a media focal person for an organisation or department.
Practical knowledge of Artificial Intelligence applications in communications and ethical storytelling.
Knowledge of desktop publishing and photo-editing software is desirable.
