Reporting Line
Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative and guidance of the Head of Northeast Sub-Office, the Field Security Assistant reports directly to the National Professional Officer Safety and Security and works closely with other UN agency security focal points.
Key Responsibilities
Respond to staff security emergencies and organize immediate assistance when required.
Support compliance with United Nations security policies and procedures.
Monitor and review the daily security situation in the area of responsibility and provide briefings.
Disseminate security advisories to staff in a timely manner.
Conduct security assessments and support coordination with host government security authorities and UNDSS.
Maintain and update security plans, staff movement records, and contingency arrangements.
Provide security briefings and support security clearances for staff.
Support convoy planning, field mission security arrangements, and enforce compliance with Security Risk Management and Standard Operating Procedures.
Technical Focus
Prepare Security Risk Assessments and support implementation of Security Risk Management measures, Area Security Plans, and contingency plans to safeguard FAO personnel, premises, and assets.
Minimum Requirements
University degree in risk or emergency management, social or political science, military science, public administration, law enforcement, law, or a related field.
Minimum of two years relevant experience in police, armed forces, private security, or security services of a large organization.
Working knowledge of English Level C.
Must be a national of Nigeria.
