FactCheckAfrica, with the generous support of the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF), is pleased to announce a call for applications for its upcoming AI Fundamentals Workshop. This intensive, one-day training program is designed to empower the next generation of truth-seekers and digital innovators in South West Nigeria.
In an era where misinformation can spread at lightning speed, the role of artificial intelligence in both creating and combating falsehoods has become a critical frontier for democracy. This workshop is specifically curated for those committed to strengthening democratic processes, advancing transparency, and fostering a “fact-first” culture within Nigeria’s civic space.
Workshop Objectives
Participants will engage in a high-impact learning environment focused on:
•  Fact-Checking Mastery: Gaining practical, hands-on skills to verify information and hold institutions accountable.
•  AI-Powered Civic Action: Learning how to leverage cutting-edge AI tools to amplify advocacy and social impact.
•  Collaborative Innovation: Co-creating specialized transparency and accountability toolkits designed for the Nigerian context.
•  The AI Literacy Circle: Gaining membership into an exclusive network for ongoing collaboration, peer-to-peer learning, and professional support.
Who Should Apply?
We are looking for passionate individuals residing in the South West States of Nigeria (Oyo, Ogun, Lagos, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti) who fall into the following categories:
•  Mainstream and Campus Journalists.
•  Civil Society Actors and Community Activists.
•  Technology Enthusiasts and Researchers.
•  Representatives of Youth Groups and Active Citizens.
